I am seriously bummed. One of my contact lenses slipped out of my fingers and went down the drain when I was putting them away for the night yesterday. Now I'm stuck with glasses. I haven't worn glasses full-time for nearly a decade... and they're driving me nuts. The distortion at the edges and the lack of focused peripheral vision... the color distortion... (I have *really* bad eyes -- even with the thin lenses mine are just shy of half an inch thick at the edges -- thus all the distortion.) ...not to mention the fact tht bright light comes through on the sides and glares off the glass into my eyes. It's really a weird adjustment to make. My eye exam place was somewhat less than helpful also (putting it nicely) and I'll be going to a different eye exam place tomorrow to get my eyes checked and replacement lenses ordered in. Meantime, I'm too freaked at the change in my vision to drive, make soap, anything more visually strenuous than veg out on the couch reading The Stand for the hundredth time. Yow.

So Friday evening I posted a bunch of stuff I wanted to get rid of to the SoapPot list. I got half a dozen responses within like half an hour. In retrospect, I think it was a bad idea to post about so much stuff at once -- I should have posted about two or three items instead of a dozen. :) OTOH, maybe I can get rid of some heavy stuff before we move.

I finally managed to get this one batch of soap from last weekend out of the mold. The darn stuff would NOT move. Stuck it in the freezer Thurs night, forgot about it, and took it out Saturday morning. We let it sit for about ten minutes and get nice and sweaty, then gave it one hard shove and the soap log just came shooting out of the mold. Go figure. I let it sit on the counter to warm up to room temp, and it eventually sweated a puddle of condensation around its base! That dried up in short order, though, and now I have a log of cranberry-cassis soap to cut.
